McTominay shines in Napoli draw, leaving Allegri ‘not lucid enough’ to speak
The Partenopei display encouraging signs of progress in a back-and-forth 3-3 tie against a Roma side energized by a Messi-esque Matías Soulé
Scott McTominay left no room for interpretation. He appeared to have netted a close-range header early in the second half of Napoli’s home match against Roma, but Pierluigi Gollini clawed the ball away from inside the goal. McTominay then used his head on the rebound, nudging it back over the line. Roma’s goalkeeper pushed it out once more, so the Napoli midfielder rose to his feet and blasted a shot into the back of the net.
Just typical. You wait two months for your first Serie A goal of the season, then three arrive at once. They only counted as one, of course, but McTominay seemed content with that as he sprinted to thank Matteo Politano for the assist.
